Known for its pearly porcelain-like luster and iridescence, the Mother of Pearl is one of the favorites of most of our designer clients from all over the world. Its beautiful, strong, and resilient qualities makes any interior décor in this material stand out making for a great focal point.

The Mother of Pearl is the nacreous inner shell coating of pearl-producing mollusks. They are found all over the world and is more common than the actual pearl itself. This is because the mollusks that produce pearls have the shell but will very rarely contain a pearl. These shells are found abundant in some areas of the world including Australia, Japan, Central America, the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Manaar (between India and Sri Lanka), Madagascar Burma (Myanmar), the Philippines, the South Pacific Islands, South America, China, French Polynesia, Europe, North America and Southeast Asia.

This materials is easy to work and durable and can be delicately hand-cut, hand-placed and polished to perfection to create plenty of beautiful functional and decorative interior and architectural pieces. The shells can be easily cut into shapes and inlayed to create unique mosaic patterns as tiles, interior floors, interior wall components, table tops, and other furniture accents.

We have plenty more of beautiful shells from our seashell collection with unique qualities from patterns, colors, and textures. View the collection here.
